Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyi Visits Kharkiv Region: Review of Underground Schools
Together with Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleg Syniehubov held intensive working days across the region. They inspected operating anti-radiation shelters and the construction of underground schools.
Kharkiv region is the undisputed leader in Ukraine in terms of the number of such facilities. Currently, 38 underground schools are being built in the region, funded under the comprehensive "School Offline" policy, and 7 more projects are being implemented with the support of international partners. This will allow moving over 40,000 more children to offline or blended learning.
Inspection Route
The Minister and the Head of the Regional Military Administration visited educational institutions in Derhachi, Staryi Saltiv, Chuhuiv, Malynivka, Balakliia, Savyntsi, Zmiiv, Zlatopil, Paniutyne, Lozova, Blyzniuky, Natalyne, Berestyn, and Kharkiv. They checked the readiness of shelters, the quality of construction work, and the conditions for children's education.

Support and Strategic Goal
Oleg Syniehubov thanked the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Government, and relevant ministries for supporting the region's initiatives. "Safe education is our strategic goal. Even under constant shelling, we are creating conditions in which the children of Kharkiv region can learn and develop," he emphasized.
The construction of underground schools is carried out in compliance with modern safety and inclusivity requirements. Each facility is designed to ensure uninterrupted learning even during air raid alerts.
